Warcraft Movie Finally gets a Writer |
Oct 13, 2009 |
According to MTV's Movie blog, Robert Rodat, the writer behind Saving Private Ryan, will be writing the script for the Warcraft movie.
The story will be original and not be based off of any past storylines.
We would choose one of those worlds and one of those legends. Something that encompasses lands and characters and storylines, and we would be true to it. But our story may or may not be about one of those central characters. They might be in the picture, those characters that these myths are told about, but they would be more supporting characters.

Warcraft Movie Update |
Jan, 24, 2008 |
Well its been quite some time since we've had an update on the movie. But we have some new info.
Blizzard has announce that they are aiming for a release sometime in 2009. The storyline will take place 1 year before World of Warcraft and will be mostly from the Alliance point of view. It will be live action and characters likely to make an appearance include Bolvar Fordragon, Thrall, and Cairne Bloodhoof. Arthas, a famous character from Warcraft 3, will more than likely not be in the film.
Currently there is no director attached to the film, but in an interview by Paul Sams, Blizzard's Chief Operating Officer, he stated they are close to selecting one. The inteview can be found on the video page.
The budget of the movie is over $100 Million and the expected runtime will be around 2 hrs 30 mins.
We will post more info as we get it.

Blizzard Announces Warcraft
Movie |
May
18, 2006 |
|
Just before the annual E3 convention,
Blizzard Entertainment announced
a partnership with Legendary Pictures
to develop a live-action film
based on the Warcraft universe.
"The Warcraft Universe is
possessed of such a rich mythology
and, as such, serves as an ideal
platform as we go about translating
that universe into what we intend
to be a major event film."
For those worried about another
crappy vidoe game to movie release
need not worry. Legendary Pictures'
first film was Batman Begins,
directed by Chris Nolan, which
was a successful blockbuster hit.
Future releases include Superman
Returns, directed by Bryan Singer
and M. Night Shymalan's Lady in
the Water.
No further details about the upcoming
Warcraft movie, including director,
cast and targeted release date
were announced. But again this
is Blizzard, they don't release
anything without it being of the
highest of quality and I expect
this movie to be the same. |
